Symbolism
Cowslip Primrose – “Faith & Adventure”
The cowslip primrose is one of the clearest signs that spring has truly arrived. Its nodding clusters of golden flowers have long been connected with folklore, often said to resemble a small bunch of keys.
In European folklore these blooms became known as “St Peter’s Keys”, linking them to Saint Peter, the keeper of the keys to heaven.
According to legend, the flowers grew where the keys of heaven were dropped to earth – giving the plant a quiet association with faith, guidance, and the idea of doors being opened.
In folklore the Cowslip Primrose represents:
- Faith
- Adventure
- Grace & Purity
The key symbol associated with this piece reflects that old story – a reminder to trust the path ahead, and that sometimes the right door simply needs the courage to be opened.
