An original Wild Minder textile artwork inspired by the folklore, symbolism and quiet mystery of the Barn Owl.

The Barn Owl has long been surrounded by stories and beliefs. This piece draws inspiration from Blodeuwedd in Welsh mythology, alongside the many tales and traditions surrounding owls throughout history. Often associated with wisdom and watchfulness, owls have also been feared and misunderstood.

For Wild Minder, the Barn Owl represents awakening - a symbol of rebirth, new beginnings and the possibility of transformation. Like the quiet world waking after darkness, it reminds us that new chapters can emerge from unexpected places.

The artwork begins with hand-painted textile, building layers of colour and atmosphere before being finished with free-motion embroidery. The combination of paint and stitch gives the piece its tactile, dreamlike quality, with every mark and stitch forming part of the final artwork.

The artwork is presented as a hanging textile, with wooden dowels at the top and bottom and macramé cord for hanging. The exposed, raw edges are an intentional part of the design, adding to its rustic, folkloric character and celebrating the handmade nature of the piece.
