Selkie “Freedom” Greetings Card

A Wild Minder artwork inspired by the Selkie stories found in Irish and Scottish folklore.

The Selkie Story

In old tales, a Selkie sheds their seal skin to take human form, hiding it among the rocks. But when their skin is stolen, they are trapped on land, longing for the sea and the life they left behind.

Eventually, the lost skin is found. The Selkie slips it on, returns to their true nature, and disappears back into the sea — free once more.
