Selkie “Moonlight” Talisman

A small Selkie Talisman from the Wild Minder Selkie Collection, inspired by the Selkie stories found in Irish and Scottish folklore.

Each piece is hand-painted and finished with free-motion embroidery, transforming a simple patch or bag charm into a small symbolic talisman inspired by the stories of the sea.

The Moonlight Talisman represents transformation, femininity, and freedom — a symbol of the Selkie in her true nature, safe in the water beneath the moonlight.

The Selkie Story

In old tales, a Selkie sheds their seal skin to take human form, hiding it among the rocks. But when their skin is stolen, they are trapped on land, longing for the sea and the life they left behind.

Eventually, the lost skin is found. The Selkie slips it on, returns to her true self, and disappears back into the sea — free once more.
